CAN-AM SECURES PODIUM RESULTS AT 2026 DAKAR RALLY | LIFESTYLE | News
Kyle Chaney finishes second overall on debut at 2026 Dakar as Maverick R platform delivers six top-10 results.
Can-Am has completed the 2026 Dakar Rally with multiple podium results, headlined by factory racer Kyle Chaney and co-driver Jacob Argubright finishing second overall in Chaney’s first appearance at the event. The result was supported by a strong overall performance from the brand, with Can-Am factory-supported drivers securing six positions inside the top 10 and claiming five stage victories across the rally.
Chaney’s campaign included a stage five win and a final overall time of 56 hours, 13 minutes and 35 seconds, with the American driver maintaining consistent results across the event’s 8,000-plus kilometres of competition. Other leading results included João Monteiro finishing fourth overall with a stage 13 win, Jeremias González Ferioli finishing fifth overall with victories on stages seven and 12, and Francisco “Chaleco” López placing sixth overall with a win on stage nine. Can-Am drivers also recorded stage sweeps on stages seven and 12.
The results were achieved using the Can-Am Maverick R platform, powered by a turbocharged Rotax triple-cylinder engine. The 2026 Dakar Rally served as a key development environment for the platform, with the brand highlighting durability and performance across extended desert stages. Can-Am’s South Racing-supported entries accounted for the majority of the brand’s top results, with the team completing the event without major reliability issues.
The Dakar Rally remains one of the most demanding off-road events in motorsport, and Can-Am’s performance in 2026 reinforces its position within the side-by-side category as development continues on the Maverick R platform for both racing and production applications.
